We work with the UK charity Refugees At Home who connect those with a spare room in their home with asylum seekers and refugees in need of accommodation. We have a community of 10 hosts who have a spare room in their home and may host them for anything from a week to much longer periods. Hosts provide food for the guest. The hosts are supportive of each other and it has been a positive experience for those involved.
There is always a need for people in Dorking and Mole Valley willing to host a refugee. It is a rewarding experience and culturally enriching way to directly help. Registering on the scheme is on a non-comital basis, and you would always be asked before accepting a refugee or asylum seeker as a guest in your house.
If you want to discuss the possibility of you supporting in this way, then please get in contact with us.
