Refugee Christmas Party - Saturday 17th December 2022
The Bookham Community Association has kindly let us have the use of Bookham Barn Hall, Church Road, Bookham, to hold a party for the Ukrainian guests and other refugees who have settled in the area. The event will run from 12 noon to 4pm. Some of the Ukrainian women will be providing food and volunteers will be on hand to provide teas and coffees. Father Christmas will be in attendance. This event is being coordinated by DRS and Bookham Ukrainian Refugee Support set up by Matt Day. We are asking that people register their intention to attend so that we can make sure we have a gift for all. There will be a tombola, a craft corner, children's games organised by a member of Leatherhead Youth Project and a cake table, for which will be asking for donations.
Regular Social Mornings at Epsom Methodist Church
The Epsom & Ewell Refugee Network has arranged for a social morning for Ukrainian families in this area - and their hosts - once a fortnight at the Epsom Methodist Church starting on Saturday 30th April, from 10am-1pm. There will be space for families, including children's activities and refreshments. All Ukrainian families are welcome and their hosts are also welcome to meet up to make connections with other hosts in the area. Please note that there is no parking available at the Church so alternative arrangements need to be made.
Weekly Get-together for hosts & guests in Bookham
Every Saturday morning 10-12 The Meeting Place Bookham coffee shop has a Ukrainian support group that meet up which folk find very helpful. It is for hosts, guests and other interested parties. The Coffee Shop is in the Baptist Church Hall, on the Lower Road in Bookham. There is plenty of parking available in the car park next door (don't forget to buy a ticket!).
